A real breakthrough in the world of Zinnias, Zinnia ‘Profusion Red’ is a stunning cross between Zinnia angustifolia and Zinnia elegans which combines the best traits of both species: disease resistance; drought, heat and humidity tolerance and easy maintenance (no deadheading). It boasts single, vibrant true red flowers, 2.5 in. wide (6 cm), that are so abundant that, as a group, they do stand out. As the flower matures, a circle of small golden stars surrounds its center disk. Borne atop sturdy stems, the eye-catching blossoms float above the fresh green foliage and make a bold statement in the landscape. Blooming profusely over a lengthy season extending from late spring to frost, they are perfect for the sunny border and make lovely mini bouquets.

  • 2017 All America Selections winner and Europe’s FleuroSelect Gold Medal award for its garden performance.
  • Forms a dense, compact mound up to 8-14 in. tall (20-35 cm) and 24 in. wide (60 cm).
  • Extremely easy to grow, Zinnias are annuals which love full sun and prefer a humusy, evenly moist and well-draining soil.
  • Great choice for beds and borders or large containers. Excellent pick for the cutting garden!
  • Adored by butterflies, hummingbirds and birds.
  • Don’t crowd them to keep them disease-free and avoid powdery mildew. Air circulation is important!
  • Among the easiest plants to grow from seed, you can start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last first date, should you wish earlier spring blooms.
