Arrowwood Viburnum Blue Muffin®, American Arrow Wood Blue Muffin®, Arrow Wood Blue Muffin®, Southern Arrow Wood Blue Muffin®, Viburnum dentatum 'Christom'
Viburnum dentatum Blue Muffin® (Arrowwood Viburnum) is a compact, upright, deciduous shrub of rounded habit with a foliage of shiny green leaves, that turn shades of purple-red and gold in fall. In early to mid-summer, the plant is smothered with a profusion of creamy-white flowers, followed by remarkably intense azure-blue berries in late summer and fall. Persisting well into winter, they add interest to the late season landscape, and attract songbirds to the garden. A wonderful shrub with a long season of interest that is perfect for foundation plantings, hedges and small gardens. Blue Muffin requires another viburnum for pollination before its flowers produce fruit.
- Grows up to 5-7 ft. tall and wide (150-210 cm).
- A full sun or part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils. Some drought tolerance once established.
- Perfect for shrub borders, hedges and screens and foundation plantings.
- Attractive to birds and butterflies, but deer resistant.
- Low maintenance, this plant is virtually pest and disease free.
- Prune as needed immediately after flowering
- Native from eastern North America.
