Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace' (Laceleaf Japanese Maple)

Japanese Maple 'Emerald Lace', Laceleaf Japanese Maple 'Emerald Lace', Cutleaf Japanese Maple 'Emerald Lace', Threadleaf Japanese Maple 'Emerald Lace', Acer palmatum var. dissectum 'Emerald Lace'

Award-winning Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace' is a fast-growing, deciduous small tree with a deep emerald green, lacy foliage of great beauty. The small, deeply cut, dissected leaves emerge lime-green in spring, mature to deep emerald green as the season progresses, before turning spectacular bright burgundy-red in the fall. Vigorous, this semi-upright Japanese maple forms a spreading bush adorned with long, pendulous branches. Standing out in the landscape, it makes a terrific specimen plant, is perfect for the shrub border and its compact habit makes it suitable for containers.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society for its outstanding qualities
  • Grows up to 13 ft. tall and wide (390 cm).
  • A full sun or part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Mulch helps retain soil moisture and keep roots cool. Best leaf color in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can be caused by lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure.
  • Perfect as specimen plant in cottage gardens, city gardens or for Japanese gardens and containers.
  • Low maintenance, this plant needs little pruning. If pruning is necessary, prune during the dormant season and avoid pruning in spring when the sap is running. Fertilize in spring before the leaves emerge.
  • May be affected by horse chestnut scale, aphids, verticillium wilt.
  • Propagate by grafting or softwood cuttings
