Achillea millefolium New Vintage Rose (Yarrow) is a spreading perennial boasting a profusion of bright rose-pink flower clusters adorned with cream centers from early summer to early autumn. Borne on upright, branching stems, the bold blossoms keep their color longer into the summer and re-flower very well for an Achillea. Attractive to bees and butterflies, they float above the gray-green, fern-like foliage. Easy care, drought and heat tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant, this eye-catching yarrow is perfect for hot, dry and sunny borders, outstanding in containers and excellent for cutting.

  • Grows up to 12-14 in. tall (30-35 cm) and 10-12 in. wide (25-30 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Light shade is tolerated, but best coloring and flowering is obtained in full sun. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Vital ingredient of beds and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or patio containers. Achillea is also valued for the excellent quality of its cut flowers, whether in bouquets or dried floral arrangements.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for aphids, powdery mildew. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Trim back hard after the first flush of bloom, to maintain a compact habit.
  • Propagate by division in spring.
  • Achillea millefolium species is native to Europe, western Asia, North America.

Achillea, commonly known as Yarrow, belongs to the Asteraceae family, which also includes asters, chrysanthemums, and sunflowers. The genus was named after Achilles, hero of the Trojan Wars in Greek mythology, who used the plant to stop the bleeding and heal the wounds of his soldiers. Achillea millefolium (Common Yarrow) is native to most of Europe and temperate parts of western Asia. Brightening the garden throughout the summer, this perennial plant is versatile, easy to propagate and available in a wide range of sizes and colors.
