Achillea sibirica subsp. camschatica ‘Love Parade’ (Yarrow)

Achillea 'Love Parade', 'Love Parade' Yarrow

Achillea sibirica subsp. camschatica 'Love Parade', Achillea 'Love Parade', 'Love Parade' Yarrow, summer perennial, drought tolerant perennial, pink flowers

Native to Siberia, Achillea sibirica subsp. camschatica ‘Love Parade’ (Yarrow) is an upright, tufted, perennial with large umbels of soft pink flowers with pale yellow stamens from early summer to early fall. Attractive to butterflies, the charming blossoms rise atop the equally attractive foliage of bright green, almost shiny, leathery, dark green, lance-shaped leaves. Good-looking, compact, bushy, and heat-loving, this eye-catching beauty enlivens any sunny corner of the garden.

  • Grows up to 18-24 in. tall (45-60 cm) and 14-18 in. wide (35-45 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Dry soils are tolerated as long as drainage is good. Avoid rich, moist soils which would cause your Yarrow to get floppy or leggy. Good drainage is essential.
  • A vital ingredient of mixed borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, coastal gardens, meadows and prairies. This Yarrow is also valued for the excellent quality of its cut flowers, whether in bouquets or dried floral arrangements.
  • Easy care, drought, heat, humidity, deer and rabbit tolerant, this Achillea is a perennial that is rich in many qualities aside from its good looks.
  • Yarrows are a must if you are trying to attract butterflies!
  • Deadheading will extend the bloom season. Cutting back after initial flowering will promote a rebloom.
  • Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (every 3-4 years). Propagate by seed.
  • Achillea sibirica is native to Siberia.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.

Achillea, commonly known as Yarrow, belongs to the Asteraceae family, which also includes asters, chrysanthemums, and sunflowers. The genus was named after Achilles, the hero of the Trojan Wars in Greek mythology, who used the plant to stop the bleeding and heal the wounds of his soldiers. Brightening the garden throughout the summer, this perennial plant is versatile, easy to propagate, and available in a wide range of sizes and colors.
