Hyssop POQUITO Butter Yellow, Hummingbird Mint POQUITO Butter Yellow, Agastache 'TNAGAPBY'
Agastache POQUITO Butter Yellow (Dwarf Hummingbird Mint) is a compact and bushy, upright herbaceous perennial forming a low tight mound of aromatic, finely textured leaves. From early summer until fall, it boasts dense spikes of butter-yellow flowers. They stand out in the garden and provide a bold visual appeal. Loved by bees and hummingbirds, it is perfect for use in sunny borders, mixed beds, or patio containers.
This Agastache belongs to the POQUITO Series, which is noted for its compact habit, free flowering plants with large flowers. These plants hold up well in the summer heat and are resistant to mildew.
- Recipient of the Classic City Award from the Trial Gardens at UGA (2019).
- Grows up to 10-12 in. tall (25-30 cm) and 15 in. across (37 cm). The aromatic leaves exude a licorice scent when crushed.
- Easily grown in full sun, in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Good drainage is particularly important. Although a drought-tolerant plant, it might need watering in extreme dry weather spells.
- Provides a bold visual impact in beds and borders, cottage gardens, city gardens, butterfly gardens, or patio containers over a very long season.
- Ideal to add color to the late-season garden when many other plants are fading.
- Creates a stunning effect when mixed with other perennials or planted en masse.
- Attracts streams of hummingbirds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.
- Generally disease and pest-free (might occasionally be subject to powdery mildew) and resistant to deer and rabbits.
- Deadhead spent flowers to promote additional bloom.
- Propagate by division in spring.
