Sage-Leaved Rock-Rose 'Prostratus',Salvia Cistus 'Prostratus', Gallipoli Rose 'Prostratus'
Cistus salviifolius 'Prostratus' (Sageleaf Rockrose) is a low spreading evergreen shrub with profuse snow-white flowers, 1.5 in. across (3.5 cm), adorned with golden-yellow stamens at their heart and a yellow spot at the base of their petals. Although each flower lasts only for a day, this vigorous shrub provides a succession of flowers for weeks from late spring to early summer. The blossoms are borne atop a dense mound of wrinkled, gray-green leaves resembling sage leaves, hence the common name. This plant is excellent for sloped areas or as ground cover for rough situations.
- Grows up to 1-2 ft. tall (30-60 cm) and 6-8 ft. wide (180-240 cm).
- Easily grown in well-drained soils in full sun. Excellent evergreen shrub for gardens that get no watering. Will grow in poor soils and tolerate coastal conditions.
- Drought tolerant and deer resistant
- Great for banks and slopes, beds and borders, hedges, cottage gardens, coastal gardens, Mediterranean gardens, city gardens, or gravel and rock gardens.
- Virtually disease and pest free
- Propagate by seed or softwood cuttings
