An excellent rebloomer, Dianthus ‘Vivid Bright Light’ (Pink) is a charming perennial forming a spreading low mound of grassy, blue-green foliage. Blooming from spring to fall, an abundance of small, fragrant, vivid pink flowers brighten rise atop wiry stems above the foliage. Attracting bees and butterflies, the blossoms are produced in such quantities that they literally cover the plant. Brightening up the garden for a long period, specifically, if the plant is deadheaded regularly, Dianthus ‘Vivid Bright Light’ is excellent as an accent plant, for mass planting, mixed containers, or for the sunny perennial border.

  • Grows up to 8 in. tall (20 cm) and 10 in. wide (25 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in neutral to alkaline, well-drained soils. Light shade is appreciated in extremely hot climates. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Extremely versatile, this Dianthus is ideal for rock gardens, border fronts, rocky slopes, or over stone walls. Effective as a ground cover in small areas or as an edging plant too.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for aphids, slugs, caterpillars, or fusarium wilt. Deer resistant.
  • Deadhead to prolong flowering. After flowering in late spring, the spent flowers should be cut back. This will encourage sporadic repeat bloom later in the season.
  • Propagate by terminal cuttings taken and rooted in early summer. Divide every few years in early spring or when the centers start to die out.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
