Rosa ‘Angel Face’ (Floribunda Rose)

Rose 'Angel Face', Floribunda Roses, Shrub Roses

Award General
Rose 'Angel Face', Rosa 'Angel Face', Floribunda Roses, Shrub Roses, Lavender Roses, Purple Roses, Disease Resistant Roses

Noted for its intense fragrance, Rosa ‘Angel Face’ is also prized for its large clusters of full, high-centered, pure lavender blossoms, packed with 25-30 elegantly ruffled petals, sometimes adorned with deep crimson at their tips. Blooming in flushes from late spring until frost, the cheery blossoms, 3.5 in. across (8 cm), exude a rich citrus perfume. When wide open, they reveal a bouquet of golden stamens. The brilliant flowers contrast beautifully with the leathery foliage of glossy, dark green leaves. Vigorous and heat tolerant, this shrub features a compact, upright, bushy habit that makes it ideal for use in the landscape or the flower garden. Perfect for dry climates.

  • Recipient of the All-America Rose Selection – the most prestigious rose award in the USA (1969), ARS John Cook Medal (1971) for its fragrance.
  • Grows up to 3-4 ft. tall (90-120 cm) and 3 ft. wide (90 cm).
  • Best grown in full sun in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • An excellent choice for beds and borders or containers. Plant in groups or as a specimen or focal point. Excellent cut flowers.
  • Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you’ll probably find you’ll have to prune a little more than that.
  • Susceptible to blackspot.
  • Bred by Swim & Weeks (United States, before 1968).
