Rosa 'Rambling Rector' (Rambling Rose)

Rose 'Rambling Rector', Rambler Rose 'Rambling Rector', Climbing Rose, Polyantha Rose, Multiflora Hybrid Rose

A spectacular sight in summer, award-winning Rosa 'Rambling Rector' is a strong-growing large rambler with huge clusters of fragrant, semi-double, cupped to flat, creamy-white flowers, adorned with deep yellow stamens. Produced in abundance on arching stems with thorny shoots bearing pointed leaves, the flowers are followed by small, rounded, red hips in the fall, extending the season of interest. This vigorous, rambling rose is ideal for covering an eyesore, a large wall, or scrambling through a tree. Excellent climbing rose for a north-facing site, but flowering may be reduced.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Blooms overwhelmingly once in late spring or early summer.
  • Grows up to 20 ft. tall (6 m) and 15-20 ft. wide (4-6 m). An excellent choice for wall-side borders or trees.
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates some shade.
  • Very disease resistant.
  • Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer
  • Introduced in the United Kingdom by Daisy Hill Nursery in 1912.
