Rosa The Lark Ascending (English Rose)

Rose The Lark Ascending, Rosa 'Ausursula', Shrub Roses, David Austin Roses

A delightfully different English Rose, The Lark Ascending (Ausursula) features gently cupped, medium-sized, semi-double flowers of just 22 petals in a heavenly warm apricot shade, splashed with gold at the centers. On the bush, the roses are produced from the ground upwards in flower heads of up to 15 nicely spaced blooms, creating an impressive effect. Their light fragrance varies with age, from Tea through to Myrrh, and they always make an excellent addition to the vase. Introduced by David Austin in 2012, The Lark Ascending is an excellent rose shrub of exceptional health and vigor that rarely succumbs to diseases.

  • Blooming in flushes from late spring to fall, this rose is an excellent repeat bloomer
  • Grows up to 5 feet tall (150 cm) and 3 feet across (90 cm).
  • Featuring a lovely upright and bushy habit, this ravishing rose bush is also a superb addition to the mixed border or among flowering shrubs where its tall airy growth will blend beautifully. Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck. Excellent cut flowers.
  • Best grown in full sun in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • This rose was named after Ralph Vaughan Williams’ piece of music, which was recently voted Britain’s favorite by listeners to the BBC radio program, Desert Island Discs.
  • David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As a Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease resistance, and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
