Rosa 'Cornelia' (Hybrid Musk Rose)

Rose 'Cornelia', Hybrid Musk Roses, Shrub Roses

Rosa 'Cornelia' is a vigorous medium-sized shrub with sprays of very fragrant, rosette-shaped flowers, opening coppery-apricot and gradually fading to coppery-pink as they mature. Rich of a musk fragrance, the blooms, 3 in. across (7 cm), are densely packed with up to 55 petals. Blooming from summer to fall, they shine out against the lustrous foliage of dark bronze-tinged leaves. 'Cornelia' is perfect for beds and borders or hedges. Good cut flowers too!

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Grows up to 5 ft. tall and wide (150 cm).
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates poor soils and shade. For best flowering apply a balanced fertilizer and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertilizer again in early summer.
  • Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer.
  • Prune lightly or not at all.
  • Bred by Rev. Joseph Hardwick Pemberton in 1925
