Epimedium ‘Pretty in Pink’ (Barrenwort) is an evergreen, rhizomatous perennial with attractive heart-shaped leaves that emerge bronze-purple in spring, gradually aging to bright green for the summer, and then back to bronze-purple in fall. In mid to late spring, open sprays of rose pink flowers, adorned with long white spurs and deeper rose centers, hover on the ends of wiry stems, well above the foliage. Though the flowers may only last for a few weeks, the lovely foliage will captivate interest all season long. Prized for its easy-care, durability and critter resistance, this dappled-shade loving plant is capable of surviving in dry shade. Perfect for erosion control, in shady rock gardens or planted under mature trees, this beautiful Epidemium grandiflorum hybrid will slowly spread by creeping rhizomes to form an attractive ground cover.
