Peony 'America', 'America' Peony, Red Peonies
Widely regarded to be the best of the single, red Hybrid Peonies, award-winner ‘America’ features large, brilliant, scarlet-red flowers opening from cup-shaped buds. Mildly fragrant, the luminous blossoms have satiny and delicately ruffled petals surrounding a center packed with golden-yellow stamens. Borne on sturdy stems, they do not require staking and stand up to bad weather. A single plant can boast up to 8-10 blooms! Opening gradually, the many buds provide a long season of bloom in the spring garden. A very vigorous plant with a spectacular presentation.
Peonies are a classic ingredient of the perennial border and have been in cultivation for over 2000 years. Beloved for their abundant blooms, the beauty of their exquisite flowers, their delightful fragrance, and their bold foliage changing shades over the seasons, peony flowers add a dazzling splash of color to the late spring and early summer garden.
