Rose 'Tropicana', Rosa 'Super Star', Rosa 'Tanor Star', Rosa 'TANorstar', Hybrid Tea Roses, Shrub Roses

Wonderfully fragrant, Rosa 'Tropicana' is a lovely Hybrid Tea rose with very large, 5 in. across (12 cm), double, well-formed coral-orange flowers (30-35 petals). Rich of an intense fruity fragrance, the showy blossoms bloom profusely in flushes from spring to fall. They are borne on long stems and are excellent for cutting. A bushy, upright, handsomely shaped shrub with semi-glossy, dark green leaves which provide an ideal backdrop for its summer-long floral display. Excellent disease resistance.

  • Winner of 12 international awards including 1963 All-America Rose Selection - the most prestigious rose award in the USA
  • Grows up to 2-6 ft. tall (60-180 cm) with a 2-3 ft. spread (60-90 cm).
  • An excellent choice for beds and borders or containers. Great cut flowers.
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Very good disease resistance.
  • Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
  • Bred by Mathias Tantau, Jr. (1912 - 2006) (Germany, 1960).
