Lagerstroemia Infinitini® Watermelon (Crape Myrtle) is a dwarf, deciduous shrub with abundant clusters of crinkly, brilliant watermelon-pink flowers at its branch tips in mid to late summer. They emerge amidst the green foliage which provides interest in spring before the blooming season begins. The leaves turn shades of yellow, red, and orange in the fall before dropping – revealing the handsome, peeling bark of the winter stems. The petite stature of this crape myrtle makes it ideal for small gardens and containers on your balcony or patio. Resistant to powder mildew.

  • Grows up to 2-4 ft. tall and wide (60-120 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Drought and heat tolerant. Water regularly until established. To help crape myrtles retain water, mulch with organic matter 2-3 in. deep (5-7 cm). Use a liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season.
  • Crape myrtles are not usually browsed by deer.
  • Perfect as a specimen plant, for foundation plantings, or containers.
  • During the growing season, clip off spent flowers to promote a second, lighter bloom.
  • Crape myrtles bloom on new wood and should be pruned in winter or early spring. Remove dead branches any time. In cold climates, Infinitini crapemyrtles may die back to the ground, but they will regrow from the roots and flower that same season.
  • Pests and Diseases: Watch for aphids, sooty mold, crapemyrtle bark scale, cercospora leaf spotJapanese beetles, iron chlorosis, and winter injury.
  • Lagerstroemia indica species is native to Temperate and Tropical Asia. It has been widely cultivated as an ornamental and has become naturalized in Europe, America, and the Caribbean.
