Also called French Lavender, Spanish Lavender, Bract Lavender, or Butterfly Lavender, this type of Lavender is a wonderful addition to the garden, given the very distinctive look of its flowers and its highly aromatic silvery foliage. Outstanding in containers and landscapes, this reblooming lavender has excellent weather tolerance and enjoys a very good resistance to foliar disease.
- This French Lavender blooms in late spring. Prune the old flower stalks back after flowering for repeat bloom later in the season.
- Evergreen in warm winter climates, this Lavender typically grows in a bushy mound, up to 14-18 in. tall (35-45 cm) and 12-14 in. wide (30-35 cm). Resembling the foliage of Rosemary, the leaves are long, pointed, and soft gray-green.
- Thriving in full sun, it performs best in dry to medium, poor, light, sandy, and well-drained soils. Excellent drainage and air circulation are essential, specifically in hot, humid climates. Drought and dry soil tolerant.
- It is deer and rabbit resistant, and a real magnet for bees and butterflies.
- Spectacular in mass planting and superb in containers.
- Best if sheared back hard after peak bloom to promote shorter and sturdier flower stems
