Papaver nudicaule 'Champagne Bubbles Pink' (Iceland Poppy) is a perennial usually grown as an annual with large, mildly fragrant, bowl-shaped, brilliant rosy-pink flowers adorned with crinkled petals and golden stamens. Blooming for weeks from late spring to fall, the satiny blossoms seem to float amid the garden on their hairy leafless stems. They rise above a small, basal rosette of blue green, pinnately lobed leaves. Hardy and fast growing, the sparkling blossoms are extremely attractive to honey bees and bumble bees. They are simply stunning en masse or drifting through cottage or wild gardens.
- Grows up to 15 in. tall (37 cm) and 6 in. wide (15 cm). This short-lived perennial usually self-seeds and comes back year after year.
- Prefers full sun to very light shade and enjoys fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Average garden soils are acceptable as long as drainage is good. Quite drought tolerant once established.
- Easy to grow and virtually care-free, it is also deer resistant!
- Perfect for borders and beds, cottage gardens.
- Removing faded flowers will encourage more buds to form.
- Cut back after flowering. Propagate by seed sown in spring.
