Verbena hastata f. rosea (Pink-Flowered Blue Vervain)

Pink-Flowered Blue Vervain, Verbena hastata 'Rosea'

Verbena hastata f. rosea (Pink-Flowered Blue Vervain) is a tall, upright, clump-forming perennial adorned with spikes of small clear pink flowers borne on tall, branched, candelabra-like stems. Blooming from early summer to fall, the blossoms open from the bottom upwards for a long-lasting display. Bumblebees are among the important pollinators. They attract butterflies and birds as well. They rise above the foliage of lance-shaped, sharply toothed, green leaves. An attractive perennial for the wildlife garden, the border, along streamsides, and at pond edges.

  • Grows up to 3-4 ft. high (90-120 cm) and 1-2 ft. wide (30-60 cm). May self-seed in gardens where happy.
  • Performs best in full sun in average, moist but well-drained soils. Drought tolerant.
  • Great for borders, meadows, prairies, native plant gardens, or informal/naturalized areas.
  • Virtually pest and disease free.
  • Propagate by seed, division, or softwood cuttings.
