The most important rule is simple: identify the problem before treating it. A lily covered with chewing holes needs a very different response from one developing oval brown leaf lesions. Before you spray anything: Decide whether the damage comes from a chewing pest, sap-feeding pest, foliar disease, underground rot, virus, or environmental stress. Treating the wrong problem wastes time and may harm beneficial organisms without helping the lily.
