Prized for its texture and color, Sedum pachyclados (Gray Stonecrop) is a low-growing, succulent perennial forming a tight carpet of blue-green rosettes for a unique appearance. The leaf tips are usually adorned with 3 small teeth and are tightly whorled around the end of the stems. Blooming in spring and sometimes in the fall, white star-shaped flowers look handsome against the blue-green foliage. Native to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gray Stonecrop spreads by thin rhizomes, slowly forming spreading mats. Ideal for the dry garden, it is an excellent groundcover and the perfect sedum to tuck into a rockery or other small spaces. Frost-hardy, drought-tolerant, and easy to grow, Gray Stonecrop is evergreen in mild winter climates.

  • Grows up to 2-6 in. tall (5-15 cm) and 8-12 in. wide (20-30 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in gritty, poor to moderately fertile, dry to moist, well-drained soils. Let it dry out between watering to avoid overwatering. Drought-tolerant once established.
  • Perfect for cottage gardens, rock gardens, containers, edging or as a groundcover.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for slugs, snails, vine weevil or root rot.
  • Low maintenance, this Sedum forgives neglect!
  • Propagate by seed, division, or cuttings.
  • Native to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
