Chamaecyparis (False Cypress), are evergreen conifers of great decorative value. Among the 6 living species, 4 species (C. lawsoniana, C. obtusa, C. pisifera, and C. thyoides) are of considerable importance as ornamental shrubs or trees. There are hundreds of cultivars available in all possible shapes, sizes and foliage color. Providing year-round structure, they make wonderful specimen plants, add vertical lines to the landscape, are perfect for hedges and even rockeries. Easy to grow, cold hardy, they prefer moist, well-drained soils and require little maintenance.
