Cupressus
Cupressus (Cypress) are vigorous, evergreen trees or tall shrubs with usually furrowed and peeling bark, dense crowns ranging from stiffly narrowly columnar to broadly flat-topped or weeping, and their scale-like foliage is often aromatic when crushed. Cultivated for thousands of years, Cypresses are easy to grow as long as they get full sun and their soil is not consistently wet. Low maintenance, they make a dramatic statement in the garden, as a specimen plant, hedge, screen, or windbreak.
