Hosta ‘Revolution’ (Plantain Lily) is a pretty herbaceous perennial forming an attractive, upright mound of oval, creamy-ivory leaves, up to 8 in. long (20 cm), conspicuously speckled with green. Satiny above and glaucous below, the leaves are adorned with dramatic, wide, dark green margins. Tubular, lavender blooms appear in summer, rising on scapes 24 in. tall (60 cm). Popular for its unusual color pattern.

  • Easy grower, Hosta ‘Revolution’ grows 20 in. tall (50 cm) and spreads 40 in. (100 cm).
  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • A part shade to full sun lover, it is best grown in rich, moist, well-drained soils. Quite sun tolerant with adequate moisture, this plant is not fussy about soils and tolerates a wide range of conditions.
  • Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or containers. Great for edging or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant’s growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
