Fruit Scented Sage, Peach Sage
Prized for its sweet pineapple and peach fragrance, Salvia dorisiana (Fruit Scented Sage) is a semi-evergreen, woody-based, heavily branched perennial or shrub with large, fuzzy, pale green, heart-shaped leaves that give off a fruity scent when brushed or crushed. Blooming in winter to summer, depending on location, brilliant spikes of large magenta-pink flowers, 2 in. long (5 cm), with a lime-green calyx, attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Native to Honduras, Fruit Scented Sage is an attractive plant in mixed borders in mild winter areas and does well in large decorative containers.
