Sun tolerant, Hosta 'Royal Crest' (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming an attractive mound of thick, broadly oval, medium green, shiny leaves of good substance. Large, fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers appear in late summer to early fall, rising on scapes 35 in. tall (87 cm). Fast-growing, this fragrant hosta cultivar combines well with ferns, hellebores, and other hostas.
- Grows 28 in. tall (70 cm) and 50 in. wide (125 cm).
- Performs best in full sun, part shade or full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
- Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or containers. Great as a groundcover.
- Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
- Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
- Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
