Award-winning Hosta ‘Krossa Regal’ (Plantain Lily) is a robust clump-forming perennial forming an upright, arching, spreading mound of ovate, soft gray-blue, smooth, widely veined leaves, 11 in. long (28 cm). Bell-shaped, pale purple flowers appear on exceptionally tall scapes, 4-6 ft. long (120-180 cm), in mid to late summer. They attract songbirds and hummingbirds. Moderately fast-growing, this giant hosta makes a striking specimen in the shade garden thanks to its graceful, vase-like habit and beautifully shaped leaves. The foliage is of good substance and very slug resistant.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows 40 in. tall (100 cm) and 3-6 ft. wide (90-180 cm).
  • Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
  • Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or coastal gardens. Great as a groundcover or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant’s growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
