Hosta 'Mini Skirt' (Plantain Lily)
Plantain Lily 'Mini Skirt', 'Mini Skirt' Hosta
An incredibly pretty miniature Hosta, 'Mini Skirt' (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming a small, compact mound of very wavy, thick, blue-green leaves with creamy-yellow margins. As the season progresses, the leaf center turns more green and the edge lightens to creamy-white. Racemes of lavender flowers with deeper purple stripes appear in early to midsummer, on short scapes rising just above the foliage. Perfect for small gardens, rock gardens and containers!
- Grows up to 5 in. tall (12 cm) and spreads 13 in. (32 cm).
- A part shade to full shade lover, it is best grown in rich, moist, well-drained soils.
- Perfect for the shade gardens, mixed with other perennials, edging, or in containers.
- Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
- Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
