Santolina
Native to the Mediterranean, Santolina is a small evergreen shrub, valued for its fine textured, aromatic foliage, compact growth habit and bright yellow or creamy flowers in summer. Drought tolerant, Santolina are attractive, undemanding landscape plants that are easy to care for and few pest issues. This perennial looks great as edging for walks and borders, low formal hedge, groundcover and is an indispensable in Mediterranean gardens or herb gardens. The three main Santolina species are Rosemary Santolina (Santolina Rosmarinifolia syn. S. virens), Gray Santolina or Lavender Cotton (Santolina chamaecyparissus), and Green Santolina (Santolina neapolitana). All three are excellent landscape specimens.
