Sedum acre 'Aureum', Common Stonecrop 'Aureum', Golden Moss, 'Aureum', Golden Sedum, Golden Groundcover

Very hardy and drought tolerant, Sedum acre ‘Aureum’ (Gold Moss) is a low growing, mat-forming, evergreen succulent perennial with tangled stems clothed with conical, green leaves tipped with bright golden yellow. Small clusters of tiny, star-shaped, golden yellow flowers, adorned with protruding stamens, bloom just above the foliage during the summer. The plant keeps a striking golden appearance for up to two months. Vigorous, Gold Moss stonecrop can be used to create a cheerful groundcover. It is also wonderful spilling over rock walls and cascading from containers. Terrific for sunny areas with poor dry soil.

  • Grows up to 3 in. tall (7 cm) and 12-24 in. wide (30-60 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun, in poor to moderately fertile, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Thrives in shallow, rocky, limestone to sandstone soil. Water occasionally once established. Protect from excessive winter wet.
  • Perfect for rock gardens, containers or as a groundcover.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for slugs, snails and root rot. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Low maintenance, this Sedum forgives neglect!
  • Propagate by division in spring or by softwood cuttings in early summer.
  • Sedum acre species is native to Europe, Africa, Turkey.
