Fast-growing and handsome, Sedum album ‘Coral Carpet’ (White Stonecrop) is a low growing, mat-forming, evergreen succulent perennial with a dense foliage of small, fleshy, finger-shaped leaves. Emerging coral, the rounded leaves mature to bright green as the season progresses before turning red in winter. Clouds of tiny, star-shaped, white to pale pink flowers bloom just above the foliage in early summer. Attractive in full flower, the plant is visited by scores of butterflies. Vigorous, this stonecrop spreads along the ground by creeping stems which root at the nodes. Very versatile, it can be used to create a pretty groundcover, between stepping stones, or in rock gardens. It is also wonderful in containers where the foliage and flowers can be enjoyed throughout the season. A popular choice for green roofs.

  • Grows up to 3-6 in. tall (7-15 cm) and 24 in. wide (60 cm). Will spread to form a showy groundcover
  • Performs best in full sun, in poor to moderately fertile, dry to moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates very light shade. Drought and heat tolerant once established.
  • Perfect for rock gardens, cottage gardens, containers, or as a groundcover.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for slugs and snails. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Low maintenance, this Sedum forgives neglect!
  • No pruning required.
  • Propagate by division in spring or by softwood cuttings in summer.
  • Sedum album species is native to Europe, Siberia, Western Asia and North Africa.
