Regarded as one of the best variegated sedums, Sedum kamtschaticum var. kamtschaticum ‘Variegatum’ (Orange Stonecrop) is a low growing, mat-forming, semi-evergreen perennial with fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves delicately margined with creamy-white and tinged pink. Showy clusters of small, golden-yellow, starry flowers appear in summer. An excellent groundcover for dry sites, it is also well suited for the rock garden. Great for tubs and mixed containers too.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 6-8 in. tall (15-20 cm) and 12-24 in. wide (30-60 cm).
  • Best grown in full sun or partial shade, in moderately fertile, neutral to slightly alkaline, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Protect from excessive winter wet. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Perfect for rock gardens, containers, as a groundcover or edging.
  • Virtually pest free. May be subject to fungal and bacterial crown rot and roots rots. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Cut back after flowering to maintain shape or leave seedheads overwinter
  • Propagate by division in spring. Propagate by softwood cuttings of non-flowering shoots in early summer.
