Rhododendron 'Princess Alice'
Princess Alice' Rhododendron, Early Midseason Rhododendron
Named after one of Queen Victoria's daughters, Rhododendron 'Princess Alice' is a highly popular and long-standing Rhododendron hybrid, which has gained the favors of many enthusiastic gardeners. Rich with a powerful fragrance, 'Princess Alice' is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with flowers held in loose trusses. Blooming heavily in mid-spring, its huge, trumpet-shaped, frilly white flowers are delicately suffused with pink on the outside. They provide an incredibly stunning display and contrast beautifully with the evergreen foliage of pointed dark green leaves. 'Princess Alice' is a valuable addition near patios and living areas where its intense fragrance can be pleasantly enjoyed. Sadly, this Rhododendron edgeworthii hybrid is tender - hardy to 10°F (-12°C) - and suitable only for temperate locations. It is, however suitable for containers since this early midseason Rhododendron has a compact habit and relatively slow growth rate.
More compact than multiple award-winner Rhododendron 'Fragrantissimum', 'Princess Alice' is also more disease resistant and features a better habit.
- Grows up to 3-5 ft. tall and wide (90-150 cm).

- Perfect for shrub borders or mixed borders and shade gardens. Great for small gardens and containers too!
- Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds.
- Removing spent flowers promotes new growth.
- All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
- Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
